In Teacher’s College I loved to spend a lot of my free time reviewing papers in educational journals around the world. I had access to the university library database and often made notes of ideas I could take into the classroom from the research published in these papers. I was frustrated that I did not see as many voices from the classroom in these papers. This got me curious to understand why and how educational research is published and disseminated around the world.
In this post I will create a list of 10 education research journals with the following details: founding date, mission statement and website link. I want to conduct this personal investigation to understand and document the variety of academic research being published in different countries around the world today. I used information from ERIC and Scimago to complete this list.

Notes and Observations
Many of the early journals were published in Western Countries like the US, UK, Canada and Australia.
The first journals related to Education were an amalgamation of a variety of different issues related to education. Over time more specialised journals were published in areas like Psychology of Education, Sociology of Education, Teacher Education, Online Teaching Journal.
A majority of the research in these journals is published by academics. There is a need to include more voices from the classroom by teachers, parents, students and leaders.
