#84 - Notes on Habits, Food and Artists
Education Coffee is a Newsletter on People, Ideas and Culture.
In each edition of this newsletter, I will share some inspiring web resources that I have curated after hours of research to ensure that you have the best education coffee in your inbox. In upcoming editions, I will focus on sharing insights, notes and realizations that I gather from people, ideas, books, films and podcasts. This month I have taken up a #30DaySubstackChallenge. I want to challenge myself to write a newsletter everyday for the next thirty days. I have really enjoyed writing this newsletter and this is a way for me to build my skill set as a newsletter writer. I will go back to writing a 2xWeekly Newsletter in January 2025.
1. Learning from People
James Clear has some powerful insights on building and sticking to habits. Here is a short video where he spoke about how to build good habits.
2. Learning from Ideas and Questions
Substack is an online platform that allows journalists, writers, and other content creators to publish newsletters and establish a subscription-based audience. I love lists. Whenever I find a writer on Substack I often wonder what their favourite posts on Substack are. To feed this curiosity, I started creating a list of my favourite articles on Substack at this link.
3. Learning from Books, Websites and Blogs
James Clear also writes a popular newsletter called 3-2-1 Newsletter. You can read the full archive here. I really enjoy reading this newsletter. In each edition he includes 3 short ideas from me, 2 quotes from others, and 1 question for you to ponder.
4. Learning from Films, Videos and Shows
I think Somebody Feed Phil is my favourite show because the host is just the happiest eater I have across in a long time. In this show, Phil Rosenthal (creator of Everybody Loves Raymond) always tells a good food story and profiles food from cities around the world.
5. Learning from Podcasts and Music
I always find it challenging to discover new artists. I love asking a close friend about a song or album that moved them. Spotify RADAR is similar to those conversations and has snippets of videos of an upcoming artist. Here is a profile of Hasan Raheem, a Pakistani singer, songwriter and rapper. He is known for his subtle, laid-back R&B, hip hop and indie pop styles of music. He also created my favourite song of 2024, Aisay Kaisay.
